#78: Snowtown (2011)

“The 2012 Movie challenge . To watch at least 150 movies during this year.”
Movie #78 – 18 April 2012
Snowtown (Australia – 2011) Directed by Justin Kurzel

Far from the usual thriller, Snowtown is a clever reconstruction of how a psychopath is able to manipulate and control the lives of other people making them all his accomplices. Besides the great originality of the script, the movie shines especially for the stylistic choices, the way is shot and edited. The Director mixes intelligently, and with great sensitivity, visual documentary style with suffocating close-ups, combined with a pulsating soundtrack..
Although the film suffers from moments of confusion and some scenes can appear a bit forced, the end result is absolutely convincing. A film that remains with you for a long time.
