#77: ¿Quién puede matar a un niño? (Who Can Kill A Child) (1976)

“The 2012 Movie challenge . To watch at least 150 movies during this year.”
Movie #77 – 17 April 2012
¿Quién puede matar a un niño? (Spain – 1976) Directed by Narciso Ibáñez Serrador

To think that, more than 35 years ago, someone had the courage to produce a film like this one, a movie that breathes greatness and mastery in the direction makes me really sad about the state of the film industry today.
Who can kill a chid? is an important film, to be re-discovered , not only for its artistic qualities, but for the many topics of discussions it raises. Topics we certainly haven’t be able to find in many of horror and sci-fi films of the past 30 years.
Ibanez Serrador updates the concept of the ‘Village of the Damned’ (1960) by giving it a, still relevant, sociological frame. The first ten minutes are as shocking as ever.
Do you remember when horror movies used to be subversive and not stupidly silly.

  1. When I was in high school I tried tracking down a copy of this to no avail. Through the wonder of the Internet I should have more luck. Nice write-up!
